Spirituality is a mixed blessing, for while it may open the child to the secrets of the universe, such knowledge can also be a burden on the child. Adults face similar challenges and the parents may find their own spiritual issues mirrored in the struggles of the child. Consciousness knows with both the head and the heart. The Jungian myth includes the idea that changing the God-image is dependent on transforming human consciousness. The connection between ego and Self represents the connection between man and God.
The goal of sacred selfishness is to become a person of substance. People of substance live authentic lives that represent them as being who they truly are. Because holy longing has a light side and a dark side it can lead us, on one hand, to an ecstatic experience and wisdom. On the other, it takes us into emotional despair.
The thesis of this paper is that using the term "psychic" as the central typological designation for Edgar Cayce misdirects serious inquiry on who he was and what he did, as well as impedes replication of his activity, by emphasizing his acquisition of data at the expense of the rich system of values which he both expounded and enacted, and in which he grounded his own self-understanding and practice.
Edgar Cayce used remote viewing himself sometimes, like when he announced from his self-induced clairvoyant consciousness that his next client had not yet arrived at home where he was to be for his reading from Cayce, or when Cayce noted that the prescribed remedy, "oil of smoke" was hidden in the back room shelf of the pharmacist.

Much of it is done through the media; for example, mail order classes. However, the most common way for a woman to enter into feminist spirituality is through books.
Every human soul has psychic ability. Need, opportunity and intent must be in place before psychic phenomena occurs. So psychic ability has to be more than a kit of useful tools; it must include the awareness the way things are and a desire to work with the way things are.

This book goes far beyond listing the five ways of becoming psychic and giving instructions on how to do so. In fact, the authors make it clear from the beginning that psychic events entail love and connection, not personal glory. The main objective of the book is to explore the spiritual implications of psychic phenomena.

Invisible acts of power are defined by the author as generous actions that are given without a private agenda or expectation of credit or reward - such as love, intuition, compassion, purpose and spiritual support. They are the means through which grace is channeled into someones life.
I wonder if youve ever lost hope? I once was not able to get out of bed much for several weeks; I just could not get up. I feigned ill health, but it was a deep emptiness and vague fear that left me weak, helpless, hopeless, useless. I was working in computer systems at a distribution center for a foreign car company.
As a person who had long been fascinated by stories of out-of-body experiences, the author gained first-hand knowledge of this phenomena as a grown man. He awoke from sleep one night to find himself floating near the ceiling, looking down upon the sleeping bodies of himself and his wife. While in this state, he had the feeling this wasnt the first time he had done so.

On October 14, 2004, I was sitting with my laptop at a café in NYC trying to avoid writing a paper for my first-year humanities class. In a moment of despair, I typed "What is the meaning of life?" into an online forum. Fifty thousand hits and two thousands answers later you have this book.
Edgar Cayce consistently spoke of the highest form of consciousness, as well as its destined goal, as the knowledge that we are simultaneous both individuals and one with God. In one statement he gave a clue about how to achieve this realization: "...the purpose of the heart is to know yourself to be yourself and yet one with God..."
New perspectives are open for ESP researchers by studies performed in the last five decades in the world laboratories where thousands of experiments in perceptive capabilities of people have been conducted. It seems that it is in anybodys power to benefit from an expanded consciousness beyond the limits of our usual functions and that becoming aware of facts that are distant in space or time is a matter of mind training.
Religion is an experience for some people. For others it is an idea that guides their lives. The authors religious journey includes both methods and has been successful for her. I have encountered three responses to the movie. The first is excitement that a movie addresses topics to a general audience that are of such vital interest to members of the A.R.E. community. The second is disappointment that the movie didnt show anything "new," meaning what the person knew already. The third is an expression of curiosity about how these topics, long a part of the Edgar Cayce material, are being presented to a general audience.
The wheel is turning. The winds of change blow thru my hair...
Ive been studying miracles for the past twenty-five years, and what I see that others may not is that Ashley Smith did everything a person is supposed to do in order to make a miracle possible. If you fulfill the necessary conditions for making divine intervention possible, and then something seemingly miraculous occurs, you have good reason to suppose that it isnt a mere coincidence.
Shamanic journeying is the practice of entering an altered state of consciousness and traveling through different planes of reality for a specific purpose, usually to serve, help, or heal members of the community. A person who undertakes this journey is called a shaman. As with remote viewing, the body remains where it is in time and space while the awareness leaves. Shamans are a bridge between the human and spirit world and have been evident in human history for tens of thousands of years.
The book is based on the fact that the basic elements of DNA - hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen and carbon translate directly to key letters of both the Hebrew and Arabic alphabets and that in both alphabets they spell the name of God. What this means is that the letters of Gods ancient name "are encoded as the genetic formation in every cell, of every life.

Have you ever experienced a sudden breakthrough? You know that feeling, when what you picture in your head actually happens and you want to pinch yourself because you cant believe its real? Or when you have one of those moments of clarity, and your biggest problem suddenly disappears because you look at it differently, or when the perfect solution presents itself out of the blue? Thats when youre playing the quantum field.
The definition of angel is messenger. Often these messengers come to us through intuition, to warn or guide us. Every person has a guardian angel that is with him or her all the time. This companion angel was with us as far back as when we decided to come into life as the person we are today. Most people primarily think of their guardian angel as a protector. This does not mean, however, that we can go through our life journey with no bumps in the road. There are certain things we are meant to experience in order to learn the lessons those experiences teach us.
The most important message the book is that where you are is where you need to be. When you lets your heart guide you, things flow more easily, and you will have a sense of where you belong. You will experience more love and a more positive attitude, because the voice of truth is always kind and loving.
Since the 1971 publication of Ram Dass seminal book, Be Here Now, the "now" has been a popular exotic spiritual destination, like Tibet, for many seekers of truth. Unlike Tibet, no one has every actually been to the now; no one has ever wandered its streets, shopped in its markets, snapped pictures, or brought back souvenirs.
Often, we become attached to something or someone because deep down we fear we wouldt be complete without them. We fear letting go into the presence of the unknown, and feel that we would be left bereft, lost, alone without that outer possession, person, lifestyle. We fear non-existence.
Knowledge of our oneness with God, of our co-creative opportunities and responsibilities, comes in many ways. Edgar Cayce gave a clue about how to achieve God realization: "...the purpose of the heart is to know yourself to be yourself and yet one with God..." As weve conducted quite a bit of research on how to enter a state of heart awareness in order to achieve this spiritual knowledge, Id like to share some of our findings.
People can learn ways to reduce stress and find balance in their lives from overworking and other addictive behaviors by following simple wisdom practices such as creating a home altar, meditating and finding peace, surrendering to prayer, forgiveness, letting nature be our teacher, visioning, learning to go with the flow, and service.

Any story you tell yourself about who you are, any belief you have, any feeling you are aware of, is only an object of your larger consciousness. You, in your essence, are always something that experiences all these and remains more complete than any of them. When you realize that you are inherently larger than any feeling that enters your awareness, this very awareness will change the feeling, and it will release its grip on you.

Seeing the parallels between that life and his present life, he rediscovers certain mathematical relationships and also obtains liberating insight into personality patterns.
Americans are feeling outnumbered and threatened, not so much by foreign terrorists but by their fellow Americans. An atmosphere of faith-based paranoia permeates a portion of our cultural climate. Unlike the Europeans, whose educations have included a thorough steeping in religious studies, we do not -- cannot -- view religion objectively. Instead, we clutch our Bibles to our bosoms and with varying degrees of emotional fervor, proclaiming ourselves "a religious nation."
An excerpt from his autobiography:
In My Own Way
The power of something so apparently simple-and so seemingly absurd-as mantra- and om-chanting is that it fosters a relaxed concentration on pure sound, as distinct from words, ideas, and abstractions, and thus brings attention to bear on reality itself.
How do you know if you are connected to a higher power? First, lets agree on what to call this higher power often called God, but many words could be substituted.
We claim to be a religious nation; we believe we are believers. Statistics prove otherwise. In tallying such factors as profession of faith, attendance at worship services, scripture reading and study, prayer and meditation, and willingness to volunteer, evidence of genuine commitment is steadily declining.
This book helps to clarify shamanism for the average reader. Those who pay attention to the work are likely to discover parallels to other quite acceptable healing practices, ranging from general psychiatry and psychotherapy to past-lives therapy, meditation, visualization exercises, and positive affirmations.
For five hot and steamy days in August a group of seventeen hearty souls explored the possibility of engaging themselves in the future of consciousness. While residing in cabins located within a wooded sanctuary, the participants worked together under the assumption that the purpose of prophecy is to engage people in the co-creation of the future. The group gatherings involved discussions of ideas, possibilities, and experiences. We also took advantage of special technologies developed at Atlantic University that allow the participants to channel their own contribution to the information pool surrounding our investigations.
History demonstrates that consciousness evolves in steps and phases. The study of consciousness tells us we are in the midst of one such transitional phase. That the feminine be involved should be a forgone conclusion. Both the masculine and the feminine are original components of consciousness. Insight into the present struggle of the feminine is had in understanding from where we have come and where we are going.
An excerpt from:
Radical Knowing: Understanding Consciousness through Relationship
This may come as a surprise to some people: You cannot not be in relationship. It is a fact of life. Yet so many of us spend a lot of our precious time and money trying to find relationships, or the perfect one. But after some reflection and clear thinking we come to recognize a basic, simple fact: We are always in relationship ... of some kind. It's part of the welcome package we get on arrival into this world. Every one of us—no exceptions—gets the basic package: a body, a mind, and relationships.
Edgar Cayce, a dedicated Christian, was somewhat dismayed to learn that he had, while in a self-induced trance state, made a statement referring to reincarnation, since he had considered the concept to be "the work of the Devil." Such would be a normal reaction, since it is not commonly known that Christianity's theological foundation, rather than having been based on sacred Hebrew documents and the oral teachings of Jesus, was established principally on the philosophy of Plato, and reincarnation represented the very foundation of Plato's teaching.

My own children remind me that becoming human is a continuous unfolding. One evening my son was playing with his toys in the tub when suddenly something caught his eye. Reflected in the chrome fixture encircling the faucet was his own image. With a happy smile of recognition, he called out his name, "Noah."
Contemporary, Western society fails us during the transition from childhood to adulthood. Too many people reach their physical prime without ever attaining psychological maturity. Put plainly, in today's world, growing up is hard to do.
According to Toltec and Mayan prophesies, the world will undergo a momentous change in 2012. Specifically, a 5,000 year cycle will end and a new world will be born. The nature of that new world may well depend on our willingness and ability to begin thinking in a completely different way about our planet and ourselves.

In my quest to better understand god -- and prayer -- three friends and I formed a prayer group called Master Mind. I'd heard about this kind of group at church. At our weekly meetings, we'd each share what we wanted help or guidance with, and one person would write down everyone's requests. At the next meeting, that person would read out loud the previous week's requests, and each of us would talk about how our prayers had been answered.
How Can We Embrace Changing Times?
Henry Reed, Ph.D.
These past decades have seen change unprecedented in recorded history. Change occurs over time, and the length of the time intervals affects what kinds of changes occur. Evidence abounds that that the earth has endured many calamitous changes. There are, however, other kinds of changes for which we can look to ourselves as somehow involved in the challenging changes that confront us.
Renowned psychoanalyst, Carl Jung, said, “We all walk around in shoes too small for us.” In other words, we tend to live lives proscribed for us, based on others’ expectations and fears rather than searching and diving into the disarray and disillusionment the might be required to find one’s true path.
The Shift--a collective heart awakening of humanity's consciousness--first came to attention in the mid-1960s. It is the sum of each individual's transformational growth toward a New Reality, ushering in a new era of heart-powered consciousness.

Another Little Peace of the Heart. An Excerpt from The Compassionate Life, By Marc Barasch.
I've wondered from time to time what happened in this primitive, instinctual tit for tat, a variant of any playground fight. Some kid pinches you, and you pinch them back: There, now you know how it feels! The word revenge doesn't quite cover it; in an odd way, it's more like enforced empathy, a need to make the other feel, first-hand and in rough proportion, the suffering they caused us.
Where Hides the Spirituality of Men? By Henry Reed
It used to be, when I felt like crying, I'd get angry instead. During the discussion of the aftermath of the devastation I had created by my anger, I would learn that I had actually been sad, lonely, or hurt, and wished I had realized that earlier. It took me many years to recognize the anger signal, to look within, and to discover my tears.

Wooden walkways wind through the conference center and out to the beach where the salt scent of the sea and the sound of the waves create a warm greeting for the heart.

The Spiritual Anatomy of Emotion, by Michael A. Jawer (An Excerpt)
"I feel, therefore I am." If this formulation is correct, it can be rephrased "I feel, therefore I am a self." In seeking the origins of selfhood, then, we ought to begin with the sensory foundations of feeling.
The Secret behind the Success of Tatas, by M.B. Sharan & Deepa Chatterjee
When the world thinks of Indian corporate sector, the name that springs to mind is of the Tata Group. Across sectors, from manufacturing to services and beyond, the Tatas have spread their wings profitably while setting the highest ethical standards. The Group's handling of the changes unleashed by liberalization has been a critical factor in it taking the big strides it has. A close look at the genesis of the Company is required to get a clear picture of the corporate tradition and the way of working of the Tatas which would enable us to comprehend the secret of their success.
The Widsom to Know the Difference: When to Make a Change and When to Let Go, by Eileen Flanagan
The wisdom to know the difference between what we can and cannot change is central to my definition of a well-lived life. When we accept our circumstances, we spare ourselves frustration and anxiety, though we suffer needlessly when we put up with what we shouldn't. Too often, however, we get the equation backward.
Emotional Wisdom, by By Mantak Chia and Dena Saxer: An Excerpt
Why do we have emotions in the first place? Many of us experience them as a disturbance, something out of our control. But they're not simply a thorn in our side. They are natural energy responses to what we experience through our senses. They're vital messages from our Soul, our higher self, to our personality or body.

are three sources of knowledge: the first is through the five senses,
the second is through the intellect, and the third is through the

rational knowledge; and what we get through our spirit is known as
intuitive knowledge. |
Sex and the Intelligence of the Heart: Nature, Intimacy, and Sexual Energy. By
Julie McIntyre
Nature is having sex all the time--that's one of the reasons we feel so alive
when we are immersed in it. Sexuality is essential to the sensation of Nature in
your own body, of connecting to the piece of Earth closest to you--your own
flesh and bones. Many a couple has been overcome by passion while walking in the
woods or on the beach; many a soul has found solace or epiphany in Nature.
Living in accordance with Nature depends on you being your true, whole self--a
sexual, sensual, erotic, fully alive human being.

Spiritual Development and Counseling for College Students
M.B.
Sharan & Premshila Sharan
The term
"counseling" is used generally for giving an expert advice to others. But in
educational institutions, it is primarily a way of addressing and resolving
problems related to students. It is an interactive process characterized by a
unique relationship between counselor and client that leads to change in the
client. The counselor acts as a facilitator in helping clients to understand
feelings, behaviours, relationships with others, situations, choices and
decisions.
By Jonathan Parker
Have you ever wondered if you have a soul? And why, if it
exists, and it is yours, you can't seem to find it? Even if you haven't asked
yourself these questions wouldn't you like to know? Not only is it
possible for to connect with your soul, doing so leads to deep peace and true
happiness. Everything in the universe is in a state of motion, evolving into
some state other than where it is at the present time. You arrived at where you
are now through a process that will continue unfolding, expanding, and revealing
continuous levels of experience well out into the future.
Kundalini Energy and Christian Spirituality
Book Digest by Fran Kramer
Imagine a high energy electric
current running up your spine, coursing through your body, making your limbs
tremble or feel the sensation of warm fluid flowing or bees buzzing around in
your head. For the average practicing Christian who experiences such phenomenon,
these scenarios most likely will be the outcome because the vast majority of
physicians, psychologists and average people do not understand what is now being
recognized as a world-wide human experience, not just an exotic Hindu concept:
kundalini energy.

Mysticism of
Teresa of Avila

This essay focuses primarily on Avila's own 16th century writings
translated from the Spanish from her autobiography. Supplemental material came
from Teresa of Avila's later work, articles from the internet, The Stormy Search
for the Self and, Touched With Fire: Manic Depressive Illness and the Artistic
Temperament. A comparison of the content of these texts and articles shows the
close relationship between the Christian mystical experiences of Teresa of Avila
and the shamanic journey in many other cultures throughout history and the
artistic and ingenious personalities of some of those people suffering from
mental illness.

For many years there has been a calling within me to connect deeply to the
Earth. As a child I spent hours walking in nature every day, immersed in a
sensory communion that flooded me with well-being and assistance. I took that
merging for granted. I don't anymore. Now after decades of other jobs I am able
to truly heed the call to return to my childhood way of life: living in
alignment with nature, actively using my skills as an Earth Intuitive and Earth
Energy Worker.
Meditations with Teresa of Avila

Edited by
Megan Don
Teresa struggled enormously with her dichotomous life, that is, with her desire
for the Beloved on the one hand and her enjoyment of life's pleasures on the
other. Teresa was not naive, however, and she was perfectly aware that the
Beloved works in and through the world. It was the attachment to the ways of the
world that concerned her, the desire for her senses to be satiated through the
pleasures of personal attention and recognition. Even though she was ostensibly
doing the Beloved's work, she knew that she was erroneously claiming the credit.

My husband, Ehud, and I were married in India fifteen years ago, on February 22,
1996. During our traditional Hindu wedding ceremony, we walked around a sacred
fire seven times and took a vow that for seven lifetimes we would give each
other nourishment, strength, prosperity, happiness, progeny, long life, harmony,
and understanding. These vows were pledged according to Vedic tradition, with
priests, family and friends, and the fire god Agni as witnesses. Although no
prenuptial agreements and marriage contracts were signed to authenticate the
process, our vows are binding forever; according to Hindu tradition, there is no
way to break these sacred vows--not just in this lifetime, but in seven
lifetimes.

SPIRITUALITY IN MUSIC |

A Book Talk by Gayle Woityra |
By Geoff Crocker
Crocker traces enlightenment thought and its impact on religious belief,
analyzing how and why belief has been eroded in recent times, and critiquing the
role of church in 21st century society as to the specific interpretation of
religion it offers. He recognizes the need that society has for a meta-narrative
that can enhance social values, a narrative that has classically been provided
by myth.

Here's a book about Tibet through the eyes of a devotee -- a stranger hiding in
plain sight. It's about how a culture's rich spiritual past is slipping away
against the force of a tyrannical future. It's about how Tibetans live today,
and the tenacity of their faith in the future in spite of dire repression and
abuse.

What Is the Real Meaning of Life? |
|
|
On October 14, 2004, I was sitting with my laptop at a café in NYC
trying to avoid writing a paper for my first-year humanities class. In a
moment of despair, I typed "What is the meaning of life?" into an online
forum. Fifty thousand hits and two thousands answers later you have this
book. |

Heart Awareness Provides Special Revelations. |
|

Edgar Cayce consistently spoke of the highest form of consciousness, as
well as its destined goal, as the knowledge that we are simultaneous
both individuals and one with God. In one statement he gave a clue about
how to achieve this realization: "...the purpose of the heart is to know
yourself to be yourself and yet one with God..." |

Because holy longing has a light side and a dark side it can lead us, on
one hand, to an ecstatic experience and wisdom. On the other, it takes
us into emotional despair. |

The philosopher ponders why it might be that even as science attempts,
in the guise of transpersonal psychology, to discover the laws of life
that will provide genuine human fulfillment, it seems to fall short of
the mark. |
